More than a "romantic comedy"
Review in English since it's hard to articulate my thoughts in Japanese, haha.
Chiaki Kashima's my favorite BL mangaka, so I've been following this release since its magazine serialization. Having read her other works, I've been skeptical of the "romantic comedy" label it has. And I was right to, as it follows the same pattern as 夜明けのポラリス (I love Polaris, by the way) in which, despite the "romantic comedy" label, there's a melancholic vibe throughout the story and goes deeper than what the synopsis says.
What I love about アフターピリオド is that there's foreshadowing sprinkled throughout the story. It makes trying to solve the puzzle so fun and interesting! Volume 1 ends on a cliffhanger, which really makes the reader itch for more.
I'll be buying the next magazine issue as soon as it releases! Really looking forward to this multi-volume series. It has so much potential!
