I can't help myself...

Story-wise, there are numerous plotholes and things that quite simply don't make a lick of sense. The seme isn't very likeable (imo) and forces himself on the uke in the beginning.

BUT. As a drama CD adapation... This is a masterpiece. lolol

Azakami-san is as delicious as ever. ♡ I honestly found myself forgiving the seme's many faults due to his honey-sweet voice. Truly a sinful quality. XD
And of course, Otsuka-san once again shines! It was so fun to hear Nagi's tone (and moaning heheh) shift along with his feelings toward Hayato.

Despite the story being somewhat lackluster, I definitely don't regret purchasing this CD and I'd even recommend it, especially if you are a Otsuka-san fan!

Needs More Depth

This review will include my overall thoughts on both volumes.

The story was, well... fine? I was just expecting a lot more world-building and a heavier dystopian vibe. Some parts did achieve the horror that I was seeking, but then it would get resolved in the silliest ways. There were also too many plotholes and unexplained intricacies with the whole "men can get pregnant" setting too.

If the birthrate is dangerously low to the point that researchers are looking into illegal/lethal methods to make men pregnant, wouldn't women realistically be the first target? So it was very odd to see women living completely normal lives, working regular jobs like nursing, in such a dystopian society. I would've loved to see a more corrupt system: women being forced out of their jobs to become mothers, or secretly held in facilities that treated them like broodmares, ext. As twisted as it is, this is what the world would probably do BEFORE even considering male pregnancy.

Secondly, what exactly did the drug do to men's bodies? It's not like men have a uterus, so how can they get pregnant? What sort of explanation did the test subjects receive for them to not question the impossible nature of this experiment? All of this was casually brushed aside. I know that I shouldn't think too hard about an ero-ero BL manga, but this seems like pretty important plot info, no??

And lastly, the lackluster conclusion... What happened to these characters was awful. TRAUMATIC. Heck, one of their friends even DIED! But they all walk away as if it were a minor inconvenience. I wanted a dramatic scenario! It really felt as if the author ran out of pages and had to quickly wrap up the conclusion. This story could've benefited from another volume, in my opinion.

However, I gave this 4 stars instead of 3 because of the gorgeous art and hot smex scenes. And, despite the many issues, the plot is also unique.

I'll be looking forward to the drama CD.

True to the Manga

This will be a review of the story and the audio adaption. I read the manga a few months back in preparation of this CD release. Since I'm a big fan of Otsuka-san, I was very excited to hear him play Mikado. Itou-san sounded perfect for Sudou as well. ^^

I have no complaints about the cast or their performances. They were absolutely wonderful. Especially Otsuka-san (of course lol). The strength and defiance in Mikado's tone, even during the H scenes, was seriously impressive and sounded completely different from Otsuka-san's previous "sub" role from last year.

However, the reason why I'm giving this 4 stars is due to my enjoyment of the plot. As a dom/sub setting, I felt like it was lacking those unique elements. Like, if this had been an omegaverse, literally nothing in the story would have changed. Even during the sex scenes, it almost seemed like they were in heat. I wished there was a greater focus on the "play" and "command" aspects.

Regardless, this was a great CD and a must-have for fans of this star-studded cast!

Unexpected, but NOT Unwelcome

The story itself is simple, a plot that I've read over a hundred times: heartbroken uke finds new love in the arms of a gentle seme. In this case, the former is a sexy college student and the latter is still in high school.

...wee-woo-wee-woo-wee-woo.

Well, I took a risk. Normally I'm not a fan of these sort of couples (especially when one half is a teen), but the uke was just too irresistible. ԅ(¯﹃¯ԅ)

I'm shocked yet thrilled to admit that I ADORED every page. Presented as, dare I say, a wholesome romance with no over-the-top drama. Just two individuals with a friendship as healthy as their communication skills. It was honestly a breath of fresh air.

The artstyle is beautiful as well and my eyes lingered far too long on certain panels of Kanta-san. lol

I highly recommend this manga to those who are looking for a relaxing story that you can sqeee~♡ to.

Sometimes, simple is best...

Considering how much I loved the author's previous work, I was really looking forward to this. Plus, visually, the uke is my perfect cup of tea~!

...Listen, I tried. I tried very, very hard to put aside my complaints and mindlessly enjoy the H scenes at least, but the confusing narrative made it practically impossible.

The entire concept of Kuga being an actor(?) for various BL manga rather than an actual character from a singular title was just so confusing. How does that work? Is he able to change his appearance then? How exactly does their world affect us? Are mangaka and all other storytellers just puppets - somehow manipulated into creating works that this "mirror world" can act out for money? Do we even have free will?? lol

Honestly, why couldn't Kuga be a nasty seme from a manga? Simple and done. No unnecessary complexity.

My next big gripe is with the seme, Oto. I understand that he's the ohitoyoshi-type but, my gawd, there has to be a limit. (@_@) He accepts the most ridiculous situations without question and there's no basis as to why he does what he does. He's just a "good person" to the point that he's bland.

Imo, this might've worked a bit better with more of a comedic tone that acknowledges the absurdity of this whole plot.

On a positive note, though, the art is absolutely gorgeous. I'll still be on the lookout for what Kaketama-sensei will cook in the future.

Review by Mitsu's #2 Stalker

A thrilling love-triangle that teeters the line between wholesome comedy and somebody's throat getting slashed.

At first, I thought Hachimori would be the one to look out for. However, besides his creepy tendencies, he's honestly quite innocent and harmless. Meanwhile, Tate is much too kind-hearted (so far) to be a real threat.

The guilty one is Mitsu. And I love him, Your Honor.

Characters like him are- HNNG!!! *chef's kiss* Oh lordy, he's right up my alley. I need him to be with Tate. I need it so baaad. (⚭-⚭ )

Who am I kidding?? I want them all to f*ck.

...Anywho, I really enjoyed the pace at which key events progressed as well. The story doesn't rely heavily on stalker tropes for cheap gag moments that have no impact on the overall plot. I appreciated the presence of a genuine story with tangible developments in each relationship.

I'm hungry for more! Can't wait for the next volume!

兄弟失格 コミック

りんごの実

Where's the petition for a sequel?

I'm glad that this got as popular as it did because at least I won't be the only one plummeting to the lowest depths of Hell. :D

Jokes aside, I was rather surprised by how wholesome the overall tone turned out to be. Don't get me wrong, their relationship is 100% twisted. But there is this quiet understanding of why and how their love morphed into something so abnormal.
The author does an incredible job of portraying that these two brothers were never really "normal" to begin with, and that all they needed was one last push.

My biggest gripe is that the manga ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger. You do get a glimpse of the future, but I honestly would've enjoyed seeing it fully fleshed out with perhaps another volume or something.

Anyways, as long as incest isn't a complete deal-breaker for you, definitely give this one a try. One of the best reads that I've come across in a while.
